In parallel with the launch of the new G-Line, we decided to put the emphasis on environmental protection for better corporate social responsibility.
We have therefore tried to find a project that could reflect our philosophy and, at the same time, help our planet, allowing us to manage everything from our headquarters in Italy.
That’s how the idea of Treedom is born.
What is Treedom?
Treedom is an online platform where you can have someone plant a tree for you and then follow it online. All trees are planted directly by local farmers and bring environmental, social and financial benefits to their communities.
Every tree is geo-localized and photographed and has its online page, it can be kept or virtually gifted to others. We can also collect important data: as it grows, the tree will absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and will release oxygen, thus improving the quality of the air we all breath.
Termotecnica Pericoli on Treedom
Care for the environment is a priority for Termotecnica Pericoli, not only in Europe but especially in developing countries where local laws on pollution, on consumer standards and the protection of the environment, are more permissive. However, even in countries where the containment of pollution is not a priority, the installation of lower energy livestock and greenhouse facilities increase production and can feed more people.
As proof of this philosophy, we decided to reallocate part of our budget originally assigned to advertising campaigns in printed magazines to purchase trees in Africa in order to create our small forest, which we want to improve over the years.
Our PERIforest
We decided to plant in our first trees starting from Africa and, more precisely between Cameroon and Madagascar where we purchased 250 units.
Currently, the trees that we have chosen to plant absorb a quantity of CO2 from the atmosphere that would be enough to fill 127,308 basketballs.
In Cameroon, we’re developing projects aimed at planting Cocoa trees, thus improving food safety for the rural population, increasing the local agricultural resources and offering additional income opportunities.
In Madagascar, the project intends to realize wants above all to offer a permanent, sustainable and long-term alternative to slash and burn. The mix of forest and fruit species is designed to ensure the creation of an integrated agroforestry system, able to offer both right biodiversity and the possibility, for the communities involved, to benefit from various crops during the seasons.
